Re: Growing Medium Test - Summary and Results

I have had a little issue with my watering system here, but as a side effect of that I have had some results come back with these test re the water retention and holding properties of each mix

3 days ago the tap on my irrigation system got turned off and all my plants were not watered for 3 days
the weather here has been mild and up to 27 deg c and my test trees were the first to show distress. the Zelcova, and Cherry had dried out and the tree that has suffered the most is the one in Akadama, and then the one in Rays mix

the one in Diatomite has held up well.

Forgot to add, that once they were all watered this morning, they were put back on the bench and left for the day.
this arvo when I cahecked them, the Akadama was almost completely dry, Rays was nearly so and my mix was damp still.
Not forgetting, that the Akadama is larger particle than Rays or Diatomite and the samples in this one were potted a little later than the others.

Not Definitive yet but interesting
