Re: Satsuki Azalea Show - Bonsai Art Nursery
I will try to drop in; i’ve been a couple of times and the trees always impresses. Sadly the satsuki for sale I n the nursery are virtually all starter cuttings so i’d never get to see it look any good in my lifetime if I started one

Tim,
not sure what your lifetime is but reasonable size Satsuki can be achieved in a short time and you can enjoy the flowers along the way.
Ive attached a couple I bought from Trevor at Bonsai Art as tube stock in 2015.
I've potted to 5", then 7" orchid squat pot and now 9" terracotta. Plan so far has been to thicken the trunk and nebari and concentrate on branching and ramification later.
Cheers

Re: Satsuki Azalea Show - Bonsai Art Nursery
Hey Ken/All,
I dropped by this morning. Here are some shots from the show and few photos of trees in the nursery area as well. The show display is not as grand as pervious years, for various reasons, but lovely nonetheless. As always, good to bump into a range of folk, have a chat and say hi. Photos below.

With the cold snap and all the rain we have had recently they were lucky to have anything to show this year.
Thanks for sharing the photos Mark.
