I've not ordered from MishoBonsai myself (yet!) but I know others on here have. They appear to have Pinus Parviflora (Japanese White Pine) seeds available for purchase: Pinus Parviflora - Japanese White pine

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, buts its illegal to import these pine seeds into the country now whether it be by mail or in person. They may confiscate and give you a first warning when you get caught. You can give customs a ring and they can check on their database any sort of seeds or plants if you give them the plants scientific name. Ive rung customs a while back to import white and black pine seeds myself and they stated that it was not allowed. Some people may have gotten through innocently because its difficult to check every single mail. But its definitely forbidden to import pine seeds. Sorry guys, but white pine seeds are just difficult to source. Also buying seeds online like ebay is not a good idea unless you are certain how old the seeds are. I have a suspicion that alot of the seeds are just too old, the older they are, the less viable the seeds tend to be, even with the stratisfication process. I have only a 50% success rate. Some batches of seeds are good while other batches are bad. So buying pine or any other conifer seeds online is a hit and miss affair. Easier to grow a grafted white pine stock in the ground and airlayer its branches to get its own roots.

that was one thing that put me off getting it, it did look like it was thriving before being sold though... i am a couple hours more north than you and i have been to the coast a few times, it seems you guys get more humidity then where i am in hervey bay.
i do get some good breezes though, but the cold for pine is a problem.
in the sunny coast hinterland would be alright though i reckon. especially in the blackall range area where it cools right down at night and early mornings.

Try pinus sylvestris "jeremy" it is a dwarf scotts pine that is grafted (sorry not seeds) I have had one for a few years and apparently Bonsai south is now selling them.
It seems to have little of the issues of the scotts pine I had mine out in Full sun last summer and it loved it. I am very concerned about mine at the moment after root work but I think it is going to pull through.
Note to self. Pine roots fuse no need to worry about circling roots ;)
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

I have a white pine tree, is it fairly easy to get them to grow cones so the seeds can be collected and used?

these sound pretty good mate :D one thing i would be concerned about though is how do they respond with the graft, if the graft is good you would be fine but a porr graft is only gonna get worse over time.

have you got any pics? maybe of the graft union too?

thanks :D

Bit red faced this morning  I was thinking Pinus sylvestris Jerremy. Dwarf Scotts pine.

Anyway the graft on it is great Jamie. In fact it took Ray Nesci and Peter Adams to convince it was even grafted :D There are pictures of it on the forum from when Peter Adams visited. He was very interested in it as Scotts Pine is one of his favourites.

My Da and I visited Ray nesski and Bonsai environment in Sydney over the weekend an Dad bought the white pine for me knowing that I am a pine lover. We didnt realise that the seeds where so rare. Tried to get some starters at bothe nurseries, but they had none. Only when Dad asked, he was shown the tree. They are a great looking pine :D So does anyone have ideas on getting it to seed, other than feeding ??
Cheers
Mick
