That post of Peter's is a good reference.

I would not be overly concerned, I think your tree has just taken on its winter colour and the yellowing is it losing its 2-year-old needles.

If it were my tree, I'd get it into full sun, to start it growing strong.

If you would like to change the soil mix, take it out of the pot and check the roots. If they look like they did in your previous photo, white roots/tips then don't be too concerned.

I'd repot into a larger pot and replace half of the mix, leaving the other half intact. Then place in full sun to get it growing strong.

Remember that a juniper's strength is in the foliage, not the roots so you can take of a little more roots providing the tree is growing strong.

From my droopy thread to an update on another panic discussion!

This aside I think it important to document these things good and bad for those to learn from.

So winter colour is definitely my consensus.
I re-potted it into an oversized grow pot but really when the sun and a bit of heat finally came this one was improving by the day.

I noted on the re-pot that some of the roots had just started to move with tiny white tips but overall it was still pretty dormant.

One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

How has this tree fared for you over the years? I am facing similar issues with my juniper so keen to know?
Thanks
