Hi people
I acquired this last year and the tag had Acer Flame on it. Can anyone assist with a more accurate species identification? Google is giving me nothing.
Thanks in advance

Re: Acer Flame?
I might be wrong, but I would think it's most likely a Brachychiton Acerifolius. Otherwise known as an Illawarra Flame Tree. There's your acer and your flame.

Re: Acer Flame?
Internet search for Acer flame gives me lots of results. I suspect your tree is Acer ginnala 'Flame' Here's a site to check. https://www.specialitytrees.com.au/tree ... lame-vy9xp
Some photos of the tree and a good shot of the leaves and shoots would help reduce the guesswork.

I picked it up cheap at a local nursery. I shortened the three trunks and root pruned last month and now seeing how it responds. The new growth in the pics i posted are singe the chops.

Re: Acer Flame?
Acer ginnala is used a bit for bonsai in some countries but I haven't seen many here. It seems to have long internodes and larger leaves but quite tough so a bit like liquidamber in that respect.

Re: Acer Flame?
Thanks guys
Will give it a go and see what comes of it. From what i have seen it definately lends itself towards a Chu or Dai Bonsai.
Appreciate the help.
