No one liked this tree or could see its potential when I put it up in August so I have twirled it on the roundabout and restyled and carved it.
It survived an absolutely hellish root prune in November 2008 so it should not be repotted until July/August 2010 but it has started a strong growth surge and should quickly start to develop into an interesting bonsai. The base is about 11 cm across and it is currently about 30 cm high. This is a solid, chunky Ash with heavily textured bark, nice movement and interesting carving. The carving has only been completed on 28 Sept and I don't lime sulphur until it has stood for 2-3 months and any nicks in the cambium have healed.
The tree is in an open coarse gravel soil mix which is quite heavy and I think posting is not an option. Nor would I want to take any chance on disturbing the roots at this stage as it has recovered fully from the work that had to be done and the new budding indicates all systems are go go go so I want to avoid any possible setback.

Probably about 10 bits, 8 Dremel and 2 that I purchased from England. I agree about the improvment... this was the back. Previously it looked like an overly starched teacher and now she looks as tho she has a few wines in her, soft and fluid and full of promise.

Growing wonderfully robustly and in super health. Need to remove wire every fortnight. Sold on the 4th Nov for $200 and well worth that.
