Shohin Juniper..

Post by JayP »

here's a little juniper i played around with the other day, it's around 5 1/2 inches tall and has some interesting deadwood that still needs carving. i wired a cuouple of branches to give you an idea of the overall outline i'm going for, however i reduced the amount of foliage by about 3/4 so it has minimal foliage on it and i will need to wait for it to become a bit more dense before i can do any more wiring and work the apex down, so a bit of a feed plenty of water and a nice cool spot away from the qld. sun, plus a little patience on my behalf of course and i think this should be a nice little tree!! What do you think??

thanks for the welcome jamie111, i am on the sunshine coast but got this stock from tess at 'bonsai nursery northside' in morayfield she has fantastic stock at great prices and this lil one cost me $12.50, it is indeed a squamata and the dead wood is natural.

ahhh i had a gut feeling it was from tess, i must of missed this sort of stock last time i was there :D bugger.
i was hoping there was a bonsai nursery on the sunny coast that would be a bit closer to me than morayfield, but thats all good. i love getting down there when i can. and you got a great idea with a new leader there to :D
love that the dead wood is natural!

Welcome Jayp, a nice Little Juniper i must say. Have you considered a little more refinement of the deadwood, it looks a little large on the tree for my asethics. Cheers :D
