Confidor in the heat

I believe there is an issue with using such things as Pest oil in the heat but I can't find any warning for Confidor in the heat.
Is it an issue?

I've killed plants overdosing on confidor, don't remember if the heat had anything to do with it. I would think, if you moved the tree into the shade, it would be ok.

spray early morning, or late night then. once it's dry, there is no issue.

Thats what I was thinking. Just that I thought I rememberd it was a few days that trees needed protection after oil and I don't generally use insecticides so very unsure!

I use confidor left right,and centre. rogor is a bit more effective, but more dangerous. the only time I've had problems with confidor, I took the lid off the bottle and tipped it over the plant (Pelegonium, and it died) If confidor doesn't appear to fix the problem (And I'm certain that it's insecticidal,) i mix up a bucket of rogor (Following directions) and tip the plant upside down, and swish the foliage through the water, ensuring total coverage. It has to be bad for me to do this, (I"ve had awefull spider mite problems this year) as rogor is quite toxic (Has withholding periods etc)

Thanks Paddles I think I will spray tonight.
I just found some ugly little things in the tips of some left over wild tridents in the yard. The best way I can describe them is very tiny maggots that can scramble along my finger very fast. Too small to get a picture but I will try. I was checking these tridents out as the growth is very much like the retarded leaves with curling that I have been experiencing, maybe I found my issue?

Just checked and seems first thought was right looks like thrips.

Hi Brett, I would be hesitant to use such substances in the open, hot sun, primarily because with Bonsai at least there is no reason to. The solvent (Chemical carrier) in something like White Oil (and not necessarily the active constituent) may end up frying your foliage. The same may apply with Confidor but I'm not sure. I would do it at dusk to be safe. The Pests won'nt be going anywhere for a few hours!!!

Instead of a seriously residual, systemic spray like Rogor, how about using Natrasoap? We have used it here with
very good results on spider mite and other pests. See http://www.organicsaustraliaonline.com.au/prod2439.htm
BTW, spider mite attacks mainly in dry, hot weather and trees that are in full sun seem to suffer the most. I've found it helpful to sit the small-leaved varieties (often natives) in a shady spot for a while, with 2 x a day misting of the foliage.
