Sown 31-7-24 in standard seed raising mix. No pretreatment.

All my Eucalypts have hit the ground running so hopefully this is a good sign for things to come. I've slip potted them into larger containers so they should continue to grow well. I probably won't update again until the trees are large enough that I will select 3 or 4 to focus on for the rest of the comp.

Looking the goods. Mine are all taking their sweet time. I think it must be the lingering frosty Victorian mornings.

I tried a couple of eucalyptus from seed last year - for what it’s worth, stem cutting was tolerated without any losses (yet to check the nebari results, though), which I’ll try again in some other species for the comp. The trees in slightly larger pots grew much more over winter.

Hopefully I've got enough here that I can try a few things out and see how they respond and still leave me with some survivors at the end

I've got a couple Corymbia tessellaris here that seem pretty tolerant of most work I've done with them so I'm hoping these will be similar in that respect.

It's hard to think of frosty mornings still, I haven't looked for a jacket in weeks and many days are up in the 30's already.

These guys are absolute powerhouses so far. My best performing seedlings in this comp. The leaves might end up a bit big but we'll see how it pans out. They look like they'll put on enough growth that I should be able to get a decent sized tree in six years. I've also potted these into a 50/50 mix of scoria and potting mix.

These guys are still trucking along well. Never batted an eyelid when repotted into a scoria/potting mix mixture. These will grow considerably in 6 years I think. I'm contemplating putting one or two in the ground and then attempting to wrestle them out in 3 years time.

I’m embarrassed of my tiny tiny trees - nothing on this so far.

These are growing rapidly, for sure, but I don't know if they are going to make good subjects. We'll see what they do when I trunk chop the first one I still haven't got around to putting any in the ground to be dug up later, I should probably do that.

Slip potted 4 of these up yesterday. I've neglected them a bit so probably haven't grown as much as they should have but they're doing OK.



I planted a couple in my ground growing area as well in the hope that they'll put some good size on over the next couple of years. The challenge then of course will be getting them back out of the ground and into a small pot.



This is one from the same batch of seedlings that I planted in my garden when I potted the first lot up. It's at least 3 1/2 feet tall now, so massive compared to those still in pots.

Wow, that ground grown one is crazy tall! Have you dug it up at all?

No. It was never intended to be a part of the comp. I have a row of eucalypts along our road edge and just planted this one there as I had plenty of seedlings for the comp. Hopefully the ones I've put in the ground now will grow the same, I just don't know if I'll be able to get them back out of the ground again I might have to dig them every 6 months or so and put them back in the ground.
