Should be a good opportunity to get the S.E Queenslanders together and score some good material. :P

Im curious.

Here is South-Africa we only dig Celtis in late winter/early spring just as the buds begin to swell. They say Celtis does not transplant well at any other time of the year. But we dig Olive and Buddleja in February, the hottest time of the year.

What's your experience on this?

hi the ones we dig are celtis sinensis i think these are basicaly weeds around here you couldnt kill them with a flame thrower.
my last colection was early spring and athey all survived a huge hacking and a bare root we will give it a shot if they die well go get more as there a listed weed in most places here.
thanks for the advice.

Celtis sinensis is also common here. If you are going to try Im going to try also.

I will report back on my success rate.

i think we will be right digging them this time of year, they seem to be tough as old boot leather, i put mine i just got under some severely harsh treatment and its budding and popping all over the joint after 3-5 days, cant remember exactly when i did it but it was late last week :D

keen as :D

Greetings,
Good luck with the dig. Look out for the yellow gwavas that are along the Bruce Hwy. Gwavas have a nice smooth bark, easy to bend branches and the leaves reduce with the 2/3 method.
I have only Monday 28 off and I need that for the Woodford folk festival.
Please be careful if you stop on the highway, the cars and trucks go way too fast.
