Bonsai Nurseries - Queensland

Mate my sister lives two minutes from this nursery and 10 mins from Tess's, every time I go down I visit Tess but I would only go back to the other one to look at there pots. They don't have a bad range of pots, But its pokie and feels somewhat confused.

yea it looked small on the website. i think tess's range of pots is pretty good though, some great quality too!
i know that because i just spent about 400 bucks there last weekend

I was specifically going to look for a new pot for a small cascade I'm working on last Saturday, but when I got there, I totally forgot!! I made a point at looking at the pots too, cause I knew I was after something, but it never came to me =/ I might check out the other one when up at Tess's again a few weeks, but Tess has been fantastic!

lol, its easy to get distracted there, so many good trees!! i gotta get some more wire, was gonna get her to post some up, is it $30 for a half kilo or a full kilo?

I was at Tess' again on Sunday for a workshop, and also picked up a nice untrained tree for the Literati comp ^_^
She's also going to track downa suitable pot for my mini cascade ^_^
I think the wire is $30 for half a kilo dude. But that's still a pretty big roll =P Of course, I forgot to take the camera.

I spent an afternoon today driving a total of nearly 70km to this nursery just to be told to come back the next day as it does not open on Wednesdays Anyway it looks small. I'm not quite sure what they have in the back yard but I saw a small range of stocks in the front yard. I was just wondering if it's worth it for me to go back there another day.

Hey kvan, thanks for the input, but that one is already listed on the front page =) The block is MUCH bigger than it looks. There is alot of good stock. Definitely worth going back for a look.

if yo go back to this one mate, let us know in detail on how it is. and maybe give us a price guide range idea. like for advanced trees. pree trained stock etc. that would be good

Prices seem to be very reasonable. young stock of various (lots!!) species for as little as $9, ranging up to several hundred, or more, for more advanced/older/larger untrained stock (of which there are some very nice, large stumps, etc) . "Pre made" bonsai from as little as $30 (obviously not stuff we're interested in) and up to very, very good quality trees into the thousands. Steve doesn't seem to carry as much non-tree stuff as Tess. ie pots, rocks, deadwood, figurines, fertilizers, but has HEAPS of trees. Heaps and heaps. And man, many species.
And he's a nice guy to boot. When I told him I'd be to Japan he told me a few funny stories about a mate of his who'd been there. Non-bonsai related =P
I think it was roughly 3months ago I was there.
Will definitely re-iterate that it's worthwhile visiting =)

I've been to Roger's nursery (Defined Garden on Chevron)a couple of times now.....whenever I'm up in Queensland (not often enough)!

He's got some really nice trees, bonsai & pre and the nursery's well worth a visit.

Hopefully next year I'll be bringing one of his Juniper home with me!

Went to Tess's (again haha) this morning, got a couple of thigs. As usual, lots to look at.
I also went to Bonsai Place at Nerangba. Prices were very good, cheaper than Tess's, BUT the range and quality of trees (both trained/pre made and stock trees) definately reflected this. I did like their collection of pots and ornaments though. I'm not a huge ornament person, but if you are, check it out for sure.
Was defiantely a nice place to spend a few mins though. The atmosphere was very tropical inside the fences!

going to see tess at bonsai northside nursery on the 31st this month, yep new years eve keen as to get some nice, fat little figs too

ps. oh if there is any other good nurseries to go to that are close to northside i would love to know about it, missus doesnt want to go much further than northside thats all, hubner ridge is to far for her to go too....bugger!

Went to the nursery on Premier St in Oxley today. I thought ti was going to be very small, but was pleasantly suprised!! I'll be going back for sure
Lots of beautiful figs and bougies! Heaps and heaps of pre-made trees for sale, a good selection stock trees, and many, many pots. Some of the pots are fantastic.
Worth a look for anyone in brissie!

i just seen the website for the one in oxley, it looks very mallsai is this just the site and the actual nursery offers proper stock? i am coming down in a couple of days and i want to put my foot down and go to australian bonsai grower in park ridge.

i also want to check out the nerangba one but they will be closed as they are open thurs-sun, i will be down on tues and wed, but wednesday will be pretty full up with medical tests and the likes.
i figure i will have to go to tess's on tues aswell as they have stopped being open on wed. these days havent they?

anything else in the local area that will be good to check out while down there?
