New Trees

Post by missybonsai »

hey all
i went for a run out to Ray Nesci's yesterday with my grandma, cos she had offered to buy me a bonsai for Christmas (yay!) well i ended up with one privet, a mudman horse and a Peter Adams print from grandma, and a juniper squamata prostrata, a bag of mixed gauge wire, and Morten Albeck's Shohin book from me! talk about a shopping trip! bonsai vs clothes; bonsai would win any day! unfortunatly i dont get the print and horse until christmas, but i get to keep the privet at my house becuase grandma is too scared she'll kill it! i was impressed with the price for what i got; i was looking for trees that wouldnt need too much styling and improving and that were practically 'finished' in those areas. anyway, the privet was $98 (i was particularly impressed with this price, as i think its quite a good quality tree) and the juni was $66. heres some pics of them - sorry about the creases in the background; forgot to iron the sheet!
i'll make sure i do that next time
this is the juniper squamata prostrata

Nice missy. This would never occur to me, bonsai as Xmas presents. Sigh...
Always we hope someone else has the answer.
Bonsai is an art of shrinking.

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.
