Banksia restyle
Hi
I have been training this Banksia integrifolia for about 6 years. After the Australian Plants as Bonsai Show in November I decided to restyle. The following are before and after photos.
The first showing of this tree was in 2005

Re: Banksia restyle
Thanks Antonio
I picked it up as a stock plant from a local nursery in 2002. I would guess that it was around 10 years old when I bought. Cheaper than a Bonsai Nursery @ $32.

Hi Peter,
I vaguely recall seeing your tree at the address you have given:
http://www.anbg.gov.au/bonsai/images-ca ... lia-2.html
It is nice "knowing" the author at last...
I like the movement of main trunk. It looks very powerful.
Regards.

Re: Banksia restyle
Great restyle Peter!
You have changed it from a nice looking bonsai into a beautiful mature specimen. I'm looking forwards to this one developing further.
Cheers,
Steven

Re: Banksia restyle
Pete..I must have been watching the cricket to miss this post! That is the sort of tree that will "turn" ficus/olive lovers (no offence meant) into hardcore native fans...that has the power through the trunk, with movement, that I havent been quite conviced about in the past..(also, no offence to anyone...I still have a lot to learn!)It also has a naturalistic style, still looks like a banksia , whilst looking like a Bonsai tree .Also it's still got some way to go.I can't quite put it into words, but I think ,for me the penny's dropped!. (don't anyone say I told you so

Re: Banksia restyle
I missed this one too Peter. It looks great. So much better than before but I wonder if you would be game to reduce the number of branches even further.

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.
