Thats good to hear
I read an article somwhere that if you spray the trunk regularly and keep up the humidity that figs will easily sprout aireal roots. I have been spraying it up to three times a day to try and acheive this. I have it inside at the moment as our night time temps have been as low as 4 deg c some nights. When our nights statr to warm I will put it outside gradually.

yeah that is true mick regular mist spraying encourages the growth of aerial roots but i dont know how effective it would be without the humidity of a sub-tropical or tropical climate..? i did hear one old guy once from down south of queensland somewhere say that he used to sit his bonsai fig in an oven tray or something and sit it on top of his hot water system to try and create a humid environment for it! mind you i never laid eyes on the tree so i couldn't tell you what state the trees health was in :D

if you want the roots to go crazy above the soil level, put it in a clear plastic tub with a lid, or in some other incubator...

my opinion:

man, you see that little green fella up the top there? yea, make that your leader and chop that other crap right back in angle with that other little guy. i have a photo i will put up soon, same think almost identical, 5wks later- exploding wtih new growth low on the trunk and the leader keeps getting solid every day...

lzrd out.

I took a small peice of the top ( about 2mm ) and it has got green inside, so maybee it is still alive. I dont know what I was thinking when I cut below the shoot that should have been my new leader
