ficus yamadori patch, going collecting

Post by Jamie »

hey guys, found a patch of figs today. only got the one as the missus needed me home and it was so bloody hot, but all good, there is plenty more :D and i will be going back, the missus is getting a bit p$%#@d with so many trees in grow boxes but its my hobby and house too lol.

heres the leaf of what they are if anyone could id that would be great, i think it is obliqua or eugonoides.
Leaf size.jpg
the leaf size is bout 50mm long and bout 30mm wide.

heres the trunk i got, great nebari :D
Fig trunk.jpg
i have given myself plenty of room, it stands 2 foot tall right now untill it back buds then i will cut back and choose a new leader.
the nebari flares out about 250mm, the trunk where it starts to go up is just under 100mm :D

will be going sumo style with this one for sure :D
there are more so if anyone in the area wants to go collect a few nice QLD small leaf ficus then let me know and we will organise a bit of a dig.

i do know bundy fisher is bout an hour away, gaeme is just down the road from me and i am pretty sure shannon goes up to bundy quite a bit to?

jamie :D
