the "antonio chop" (with a bit of a carve here and there then burn to make it a bit more natural 
ignore the colour of the foliage, it will obviously be a bit darker, i just used what i had at hand

all ideas are great mate if not to confirm my own thoughts, but maybe to see something i havent thought of. its all good! thanks to all of you. a pic is a pic doesnt stop me from trying to convey an idea, when helping some one else. doesnt always come off to how i see it but just maybe a thought is sparked.
