Ficus - unsure species

Hi all. Just to dispelled some peoples thoughts that I don't have figs because I hate them, here is a fig I have been hacking up since I won it at a club raffle.



this tree had a very big thick straight section of trunk heading of where the first bend happens. I removed this and another straight section that continued off to the right before the next bend.

At the same time I took it oi of it's pot and cut all the roots back to stubs to start growing a proper nebari. After a few weeks it had burst buds all along the trunk.

i like this tree mate, its got nice movement and will make a great little tree, it looks like a native fig, QLD small leaf i think, think they are eugenoides or obliqua, they change names like anything.

look forward to seeing more development!

I have only had this tree since November but I can see a bright future for it. I am letting it grow a bit to heal wounds and flatten up. Here it is as of this morning.

Hi Jarod,
The most commonly grown fig in Victoria is the port jackson or ficus rubiginosa. That would me my guess.

That's my guess too Craig. It looks nearly identical to one I have had for about 6 years that was purchased as a port Jackson. The only differnce is the colour of the sheath that covers the new growth. My port Jackson has a pale yellow colour. While this is pretty much white.
