You can buy in bulk Jamie. Not sure where from though the biggest I have bought is the $30 rolls from Bunnings.
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

treated with limesulpher thats it

i got more to put up with different deadwood and the likes !

yea i have bought in bulk, its a much better option, the thing is you go through the wire quickly, i was actually thinking of tracking down the plain aluminium stuff. not anodised. i know jow gets it from somewhere, i might hit him up about itBretts wrote:You can buy in bulk Jamie. Next time jamie, maybe put some wood hardner on after the lime sulphur, as well. To ensure this young deadwood last longer. JMO

cool mate, i will do that when i jam some deadwood in on the next one!anttal63 wrote:Next time jamie, maybe put some wood hardner on after the lime sulphur, as well. To ensure this young deadwood last longer. JMO![]()
same here mate, thats why i am trying to get so many twisted up now, in three years if i keep getting them every six months or so i will have quite a large stock and will be some good potential for everyone!jarryd wrote:i like what your doing jamie, keep making these little junis the more we all start growing the more stock there will be around for us all to start doing some real styling work on with in a few years.

i am trying all different techniques, so far the best one has been to wrap the wire tight as possible and let it scar the trunk, this gives it some healing time and allows for the sap flow to redirect. it does seem to look more natural to.
what is seen now is gonna look different again and again over the next 3-5 years.
a little tip for those who want to grow this sort of stock, shimpaku like a slight tight root mass, being pot bound seems to help them along.

Re: twisted shimpaku!
heres another one
this one doesnt have any deadwood attached into it, and hasnt had the shari started yet, it is just a mass mess of brnahces and trunks right now

eventually they will thicken and hold, i will probably have to cut the wire off soonish, on a few and rewire, that will be an easier task rewiring than taking the wire off i reckon.
some of the trunks will be killed off eventually, and also when it gets rewired, the small branchlets will be wired into more of a position, i will feed heavily and let the growth extend so i have more to work with!

i have one that i will be doing that to aswell brett !
i have so many little starter shimpaku in my growing area its not funny, i have gone through at least $50 worth of wire on them aswell, i need to find a supply of the cheap aluminium wire thats not anodised for this i think!
jamie
Hi Jamie go to a scrap metal merchant and grab yourself a recycled roll of old aluminium SEC power cable $50 would buy around 50-100 m multiply that by 7 or 10 strands and youv'e got youself 300-1000 lm of either 2 or 3mm wire . you have to unravel the wire and straighten the spirals between your fingers or it will kink . i use 100's of metres of this wire , i have never used bonsai wire on a tree yet.Cheers
