Too run the shari up the length of the tree one year and then split the next year is a very safe option. this kind of work to be done in winter.

Hi Skip, Thank you for sharing that with us some great work as always. It reminds me of a very old saying, "The operation was a success but unfortunately the patient died" We do need to try these things at times and it gives us more confidence to go on further. That new radiata has popped up at the right time. I hope the rest of the guys let you have it
I have a pine that I got from the local Forestry nursery. Not sure what species it is but it has grown pretty big in the last couple of years in the ground. I wonder if I could get it back out
