Re: black pine styling ideas
nice stock to work with mate
it looks like there is a good chance for a jin at the top of the trunk and shari all the way down. i would also be wiring the tree out completly before bending anything around, then you can get your branch placement right.
any chance we can get some bigger pics and a maybe a shot from underneath to see the structure?

Re: black pine styling ideas
try resizing to 540x720 i think it is, you should have a prob getting them up with that size, that is what i usually use as a guide for size
which program do you use for resizing? 300x180 is the max size for avatars but not posts

Re: black pine styling ideas
no prob about the virts
as for ideas, i think this tree shows some problematic areas. ie that straight section on the main trunk line. hopefully that can be bent but if not i have allowed for foliage to cover it, the virt is rather scrappy, but it gives ya an idea.
the other problmeatic thing is the angle, i think you could probably repot this tree slanted to the left more bring the main trunk line upright which will give you more styling options, the virt i have done is for how it is potted now, i will probably come up with one at the angle i am talking about
mudmap, this is where i would be trying to get the trunk and branches at, if you decide to repot at a different angle, this virt is practically useless. but all good.
rough idea. jin and shari right down the lower section of the main trunk. this will help with that reverse taper and also fix that stub up, so a nice bit of carving for ya
can ya give us some dimensions of the tree? height? trunk width? etc?
cheers

Re: black pine styling ideas
here ya go mick
turned the tree to the left a bit, this styling will be peice of cake to accomplish successfully.
i think this way would be a better way to go than the previous virt, the tree is very static the way it is, turned anti clockwise, and a complete wire out which is very do-able as well you could get something very close to the virt, that main branch has a little thickness to is, so if you are gonna bend it be sure to use raffia or vet wrap, vet wrap preferrably
