Shoin Clero`s for Jamie

Jamie I noticed in a post some time back, a discussion about how small clero leaves can be reduced. I have been looking through my old pics and found these, they are very small. I grew these from branch cuttings from another bonsai. CHEERS ROD....

beautiful trees Rod, as usual they are quite small arent they, i would have to say at a guess 150mm tall? trunk widths about 25mm?

it gives me some hope on getting some small leaves on defined pads (i know that is gonna be hard to acheive but i et my sights high )

how small would those leaves be Rod? about 8-10mm long?


great trees, i am really falling for clero these days as well to go with my fig obsessesion

Jamie about 10cm high , the leaves 5-8mm, I had use a lot of clip and grow in shaping these. I find it to hard to do wire secondary branches when they are this small. ROD...

i can beleive that mate i think clip and grow would be the only way to go with such small trees and branching, plus you would need very thin wire and whether it would do any thing being so thin is another prob with wiring such a small tree.
i know wiring wouldnt be an option for me as i have big and a little bit clumsy hands

i think i will be employing clip and grow on the two clero i got once the initial branching has hardened off as wiring is going to be quite difficult with the branching. i have 1mm wire and i still think that is to thick for some of the fine shoots, i dont think we can get smaller than that?

how long did these take to develop from rooted cuttings, with no or little branching, to what they are mate?

Jamie it can be done I have fat fingers. I use long nosed pliers and copper fuse ( which is a bit hard to get now so use the ordinary one but watch it ) wire.
If I can wire a tree that is 4cm high and wide you can do this. Once they are established then employ clip and grow.

i thought you might say something like that i dont know if i explained myself properly but i think i said initial wiring for basic structure then employ the clip and grow method? oh well, if i didnt thats what i meant. when you say copper fuse is that for brazing and soldering?
i think my biggest fear about that sort of wiring is my inability at the moment (which i am working on) to fine wire without putting to much pressure on the branch and damaging it at the trunk and have it partially hanging, im sure in time i will get it.

i havent tried using long nose pliers, i think that would even be a bit of an art in it self to wire a small branch with them.
