Restyle of Mother

Post by Pup »

G, day I have had this Casuarina cunninghamiana, For three years now as a trade for a Satsuki Azalea shugetsu.
I have been looking at it from different angles. These first shots are what I thought would give me the best front!!.
I have now changed my mind and will start to redevelop it. With this front using the scar as a feature. Also all the cuttings hope fully will give me some good Mini's. As I have no new stock and I am prone OH bugger I should taken pics, too late. I thought I could share restyles with you if I don't have a seniors moment when I am doing that. Well here we go with this project. Pup :)

I really like the new front Pup.
The wound will look excellent with a bit of work. I have found Cas timber to be very soft and rots easily (withing 2 years) so I recommend some form of treatment to it.
Possibly your blowtorch technique???

I'll have to reserve judgement on this one Pup. I do like the lower branches in the first style, but also like the trunk movement is the new style.

Hey Pup,

I would love to see what this tree looks like now. Am about to help a mate dig his first tree, a casuarina and it would be great to show him what they can look like.

Nice tree Pup. Must have a few years behind it to get the lovely bark. Cunninghamiana always seem so slow to cork up. I would have that over azalea any day.

I like the new front Pup, it seems to give the trunk a more pleasant posture. I look forward to seeing you build some equally impressive branches on her.

Cheers

Well done Pup. It takes some Cohunas to strip down an established tree and virtually start again. Your eye noticed a better tree hidden within and went for it. Some would not be brave. I think it will be a much better tree for it. Also an excellent example for beginners to not be content with a tree just because it is established.
