water it well and press the soil in so it doesnt fall out, lay it on its side with the cascade pointing up, this will help bring energy to the tail.
from what i have heard juni dont like massive amounts of N i would go with a balanced feed and just make sure its getting it regularly.

G,day Hugh, I have a question? when it was coverd in foliage and you touched it, did it look like it had Dandruff little white flakes.
Because it looks like it has been under attack by White Mite a minute sap sucking nasty.

So if you have been unlucky enough, you need to get some Malascale and treat the tree. Do not Fertilise it, it is sick, do you eat when you are sick.

Stand it up as Jamie has suggested, after you have watered it and it has drained, and give it some Seasol that is a tonic. It is not a healthy tree. I would also look at the soil, looking at the bottom of the pot there is a build up of Salts which is not a good sign. It does not appear to be draining freely.

I must admit I have placed all of this on what I see in the photograph, but I would take a ggod look at all that I have pointed out to you.

Cheers :) Pup

It looks pretty sick to me too. The big problem is when junipers look sick it is too late - I hope I'm wrong.

I don't agree with the others about standing it up because it is a prostrate variety and it naturally grows down

sorry to say mate but after seeing that close up of the branch i could see the trunk and it has the dehydrated and wrinkled look, this happend to one of my junipers that i had been training for 3 years, i think you have lost it mate, you may see a tiny bit of ne growth but that would be from left over energy in the branches, i think you may have lost this one mate :( mine was due to spider mite aswell, check all your other junipers and trees and try and treat accordingly, i lost 3 of my oldest junipers to this exsact problem, they werent anything special, just had sentimental value as they were my first purchases from a bonsai nursery as raw stock that i styled :(

sorry to be the bearer of bad news :(

Prostrate yes cascading no. Have you noticed how different tree's once in Pot culture differ from the norm. Such as drought tolerant frost hardy change when in pots.

I have squamata growing in my front yard. 8 years ago a friend said he wanted them if I would sell. I gave them to him. They had trunks at soil level 100 to 130mm.

He took them after recovery turned them with the help of Budi Sulistio into very nice cascades. Both of those tree's weakend on the cascade. He stood them as we say they recovered.
That is why I say what I do. I have seen what happens to Protrate plants that are kept permantly as cascade's. They are fine as Semi cascades though.

Hey everyone thanks for all the repleys. I don't think the tree is sick at all to tell you all, I just think it was a case of over trimming a bit to much so some Of the lettle twigs have died but it's sprouting out.
Pup there wasn't any white things on the tree at all, I would know because I'm always checking for them on my trees and the white arond the pot is a stain on the BBQ it is sitting on.
This is wy I wanted to know what to do to encourage strong growth on the whole plant because I kinda realized a little while after I plucked that I trimmed a little too much hence the lack of foliage and vigoir it shows n the photo. If You look in the first pick you can see that the apex didn't get trimmed as I was trying to get it to grow out more as it is too small and ball shaped, so I trimmed the rest of the tree as it was gettng a bit ov er crowded but I trimmed too much in the end. What I'm thinking is I should trim the apes now so It can put more
energy into it's already trimmed branches.
But that's what I think is gong on with It, I'm almost certain its not sick.

Whilst reading responces Hugh, in regards to it being sick, after just heavily de-foliating my squamata its branches look exactly the same. The squamata foliage is brown over the entire plant, with green tips. If you heavily de-foliate one it will appear brown. It does look like you went a lil far, I would have left some green tips, but it should pull back. I personally wouldn't give up on it, in fact I'm not all that convinced like the others that it is sick at all.

Good luck mate, feed it and hope for the best.
Mitch :D
