Propagation of Cycas revoluta

Matt all I do is cut the PUP off and stick in the soil about 2-3 cm keep them moist. I use ordinary soil. I have a 100 percent strike rate doing this.

Here is the parent and one of the pups 2 years old.

Pup i love the mother plant. I was given one about the same size recently, all i had to do was drive to sydney & dig it out, near broke my back hauling it. I took 13 pups off it including a couple over a foot across, all planted out or potted on. I gues there would have to be another 30 odd small leafless pups still on it!!! 30yrs in the garden & never been pruned or tidied up. How long does it take for them to reshoot?

When did you do them Matt, mine have started within the month,but that is when you leave them alone. I usually do not move them for at least 3 months after.

Because the roots are very brittle at this stage once the have establish you should have no worries. What you might get is some fire away and other's do not.
No worries because they can sulk for a while, but if the conditions are OK warm and humid you should be OK.

The mother plant is 15 years old always in a pot, open Bonsai mix fertilise once per fortnight with Phostrogen, or as it is hard to get now for some people.
Yates flower and fruit it has the same NPK and trace elements as Phostrogen. It is what I will be using when I run out of the Phostrogen.

Take 2 strong people to lift it I put dad (its a male) in the ground, left all the small pups for now. I trimmed all but the current seasons leaves off, do you think it will send out a second set or wait till spring? It looks fantastic in situ & when the wollemi grows they will balance nicely. Have potted up 4 singles of various size & a trio good to know about the roots so i dont move them. They are tucked in out of the way so should be fine.
