Jamie
Yes - the shohin went through the fat bottomed fig process. As far as nebari is concerned, there isn't enough room in the pot for nebari.

Re: FAT BOTTOMED FIGS FROM SEED
cool mate
well i took the plunge this afternoon with the one i didnt know what to do with, so it has now had its chop at the widest point, fingers crosed it takes and i have a nice little mame sized tree out of it
it wasnt massive to begin with and i have been wanting mame for a while
i can see there isnt any room in the pot for a nebari there mate, i was wondering if it had any, even slightly, what sort of fig is that one mate ??

Re: FAT BOTTOMED FIGS FROM SEED
hey jamie the 2 figs that i have done it to have their bases a bit covered at the moment to encourage more root growth and to thicken thurther but i managed to dig down a little.
Hugh
these pics dont really show off my method very well but ther two that ive done it on, when i repot them ill post it and show the bases
depends on how thick the cutting is just slice the X up about a cm or so if its a 1cm cutting i think etc. and basically spread as much as it will let you with out splitting up thurther then the cuts, of course a little extra splitting will be ok though, and put a pebble inside to keep it spread apartJamie wrote:how much of an X would you put i and how far would you spread?
