[SOLD] murraya paniculata, large tree

Post by Jamie »

hey people :D

this murraya paniculata- mock orange, orange jessamine, cosmetic bark tree etc. is up for sale or trade.
Photo015.jpg
Photo014.jpg
it is a rather large tree with a base of nearly a foot across and a nebari spread of about 1 and a half foot. i am willing to trade for stock trees or trees in a refinement stage etc. or sale price is $250 negotiable.

i have done the main chop downs on it and a little bit of wiring to get some branches in place. the reason for sale is that it is just way to big for me.

it looks like there is four trunks but there is a trunk getting regrown as it wasnt in balance with the rest of the tree.
there is a lot of potential for a large tree here i just cant handle a tree of this size any more.

feel free to pm me an offer or any questions on the tree.

due to the large size of this tree freight would have to be organised at buyers cost, i can organise getting it to you, it will be boxed and put on a pallet to be sent if need be, other wise pick up is Hervey Bay QLD.

cheers and thanks for looking :D

jamie :D

edit- frieght cost would not be a massive amount i have sent gearboxes to locations around australia and it has been no more than $100 *for guide purposes*

Am I allowed to comment? Great stock! This tree has great potential in the right hands! I love the base of it and it will make a fine multi trunk bonsai!

Let me know if comments on the stock are not allowed - I will take it off!

Cheers,
Leigh.

yes they do have hard wood and this one has some great potential for carving, and yes it is a golden oppurtunity for the sizr of the tree.
it grows really quick foliage wiseso easy to make a canopy with it all. :)

Hi Jamie - is the Murraya Paniculata still for sale?

I will pay $220 plus freight to Melbourne if you can arrange.

I am a novice at this but will be guided by your advice.

Hi Jamie, just a minor thing I wanted to mention here. I noticed how you also described the tree as a Mock Orange. Be aware that Mock Orange is a completely different species belonging to the Genus Philadelphus. (Eg) Philadelphus Virginiana. It is not related to the Murraya. Additionally, unlike Murraya, the Mock Orange is deciduous.

Regards

Murraya paniculata

Orange Jessamine Satinwood tree Mock Orange.

Common names are usually used in areas where there are lots of the trees or scrubs, they can also differ from suburb to suburb.

I was once corrected on the official common name of a plant. There are no official common names. The plant I was referring to is called a swamp paper bark.
If you have a look in John Wrigley and Murray Fagg book on Bottlebrushes Paperbarks & Tea trees.

There are a number of references to paperbarks, when you tell some one it is a Melaleuca there answer is OH a paperbark. Of the 250 plus Melaleucas only 48 are referred to as Paperbarks. So common names are a huge problem. Where possible they are best not used if you know the correct Botanical name.

Cheers Pup
