I had some success about 35 years ago striking Himalayan cedar from cutting but it took about two years and was very hit and miss, plus the rootage was very meagre.

As to layering Atlantic cedar I don't know but imagine it would take awhile if it worked at all.

Anyone else?

Yep i have had approx 60-70 % strike rate. Hiro believes they can be layered. If black pine can so can cedars.

Well there you go, I'm getting the same mixed results that I got from Google, in the end I guess you should just try these things for yourself and see what happens in your own individual circumstances, the first time was a failure but that in itself doesn't mean its impossible, I'll give it another go, so anttal if you've got any inside tips you can give me it would be appreciated.

same as chinese juniper cuttings except in small pots individually with drip tray underneath.

Oh they can be layered all right, all cedars can, it takes a while though, brevifolia was the hardest it takes 18months. I would expect that they could be grown from cuttings under mist in an enclosure. I want to try some Blue Atlas cuttings in the new fogging tunnel, but I have left it a little late this year. I have been told that they are impossible and that I shouldn't bother, that is incentive enough for me to try.
