Nice score Bundy. I might have to get myself a bigger one of these Clerodendrum. Maybe not as big as yours though as I think it would be best moved into the shade house in Winter here.
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Thanks for the virt Jamie :D There is a little bit of deadwood at the tips of the two stumps either side which I will incorporate into the finished design ,I must come down and get you to teach me how to do virts ;) Thanks Dayne :D The trees from the dig are doing well the celtis is just starting to power on now ,I have selected a couple of branches but have been rubbing back a lot of shoots to try and get the right placement for other branches .The privet is also doing great .to tell you the truth I am amazed at the root growth  is it possible that i may have to root prune before winter :?: Thanks Brett :D The clero do well here since I have had this guy the branches have put on 15-20cms of growth ,the wet has helped ,like watching the sugarcane grow half a foot a day
Cheers :D

yeah gotta watch em as they will grow out of shape before you know it, i am thinking of using something to slow the growth right down when i get the tree to where i want it. i think bonza bud would help in slowing it down but not sure.

it wont be long until you have some good stuff to work with mate :D

At the growth rates they appear to have here in pot culture they could easily become a favourite nightmare .On the weekend I will post up some pics from some collected stock and you will see how they have sprouted like yours between bark and hardwood .If you read this Shannon post your pic of Clero shooting back on debarked bare wood Amazing :o  :o

Tony, when you planted the Fig, did you place it on a hard surface? If you did and you spread the roots out over whatever you planted it on I think you will find you will develop a very nice Nebari with that tree. If the roots are kept covered they should fuse together nicely and then flair out as they enter the soil at the altimate planting position, which should be about where the roots end now in the pruned photo, as I see it.

Thanks Graeme :D No I did'nt mate as the roots would not budge (broke 2 major ones) I am planning on taking base up higher so at the moment fusing the roots is the name of the game .As the loose roots are mainly aerials I was toying with the idea of root on rock but had thought that the tree had a slender gracefull feel to it .
Cheers :D
