if i could of afforded the masakuni? tools i would but at $6000 a set it will take me about 5 years to pay off

Jamie what Leigh is saying about Joshua Roth is true I have seen them and I would sooner go with a cheaper Japanese tool.

One thing to remember with Bonsai tools is if you need TWO HANDS to cut it is not the right tool. Get a bigger one or a saw.

Did you buy from a local supplier? if so it might be worth taking them back to that supplier.
If you do not get satisfaction, wait till they have customers, then go back and complain very loudly.

Kaneshin are not tip top of the range, but I have been using both carbon and stainless steel, and have had no trouble in my time in Bonsai.

i wouldnt say they were locally bought, i am satisfied with the tools, i didnt use both hands though, you know what its like being a sheet metal worker and how much strength ya get in your hands from holding sheets and throwing them around all the time


i havent heard of kaneshin maybe i will look out for them, i definately need to have a couple of pairs of different size cutters though

I'm still interested to see what has made them separate. The blade didn't chip did it? I would imagine it is a pin issue.... Did you buy online? If it was purchased at a shop front it is covered by a "fair use" warranty. That means if it does not last for a fair amount of time, you are entitled to a refund. It does not sound like you got "fair use", unless you were using it on something it was not designed for. I would take them back.

i bought them through a mate, so its not a shop receipt sort of thing, i dont think its a pin issue, i think there is just a twist.

i didnt get time to get a pic, it will be right, they still cut, when i get them overlaping again they will be good. obviously just chewed a bit more then i wanted and has spread them a bit.

Mate that sux don't think you should need to spend more tha $80 to get quality we have roofing shears at work that will cut metal all day long for years that only cost $80 if the local guy won't help email Joshua Roth And tell them even include photos see where that gets you sometimes tools even come with an uneven overlap and need to go back I picked a pair up once I'm going to get a pair of 3o0mm Japanese branch cutters and be overtooled because I have bent an old pair I allso use a $15 bunnings pair of secaturs for big stuff and they cutt super clean good luck either way

the mate i got the set of has been good enough to let me pay them off when i can the last thing i want to do is take em back and say not good enough.

Champ show us a photo.That way we can tell what the prob is.I dont think its the pin like someone has said in earlier post. Sounds like the the tip has twisted. But i had a cheap set with same prob and the fault was at the handle end,bent them back and now i just use them for cutting herbs cos thats all they are good for.

i have actually fixed them now, i used a spanner and vice grip to get the twist out, then shaprened them so they closed that last tiny bit. working a treat again. i am gonna be a little more cautious with them from now on

what i think i might do is get a cheap pair of cutters, or if someone has a twisted or bent pair that they could send i was going to start a topic on how to fix tools that have these problems. some people cant afford to go out and buy a new pair and have to work with what they got and i think fixing and maintenance of tools isnt shown enough to keep them in quality and workable conditions.

any one else have thoughts i what i propose?

jamie i have also bent my kikuwa good quality branch cutters they now have the twist you mentioned, im interested in how you repaired them. my new stainless steel tool set should have arrived here by now ordered and pay'd for them in jan i have been emailing them for a few weeks and the only reply i got was we cannot find your order details this is a well known internet dealer which i will not name until i see wether or not they come good, however so far i think i am being screwed around. they arent cheep tools and being a uni student it was money that i scraped for so they better come good.
