looking good ant!

something like this takes a little bit of courage as originally the tree didnt look like it was worth layering, now its fattened up and you got two possibly great trees!
the parent has some nice size for a shohin or a bit bigger and the layer has some nice early movement! i think your going to get them to be corkers!

nice :D im still waiting on finding the right JBP :D im gonna take the plunge!!! :D  :D

jamie :D

ps. gonna need some walkthrough guidance from you pine gurus too ;) :D
SHOHIN YAKUZA!!!
 taking the top half of trees of since 2005!
and growing trees for the future generations! 50+ year plans :D

thanks ken you're an inspiration here! 25mm wide / diameter. Sorry pics are the same as usual, just that it was still dark this morning and flash was used. so thats the probable cause. ;) 8-) :D

That looks like good practice for putting a new set of roots on JBP stock you buy Antonio ;) Nice work!
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Here also is the Donor. It was repotted same time as the layer was severed. Today it also got a rechanneling of energy, preliminary styling and opening up the options! :hooray:

Hi Antonio,

Absolutely stunning: the air-layering! I cannot believe I actually missed it last year!

The two pines you have are certainly of great potential. Please keep us up to date with the development of this one.

Cheers.

 Hello mate; Thanks for that. The doner will be developed as is into a small chuhin, for my design just tips over the shohin mark. It already has an impressive 90mm base, which will make a 3:1 image in the end, possibly 2.5:1 when the nebari is fully developed. The reason i purchased this stock is because i felt it didn't need to go in the ground for the design i had in mind, just needed to invest the next 10 yrs refining it, however wasted 1 layering it but learnt alot from it. The layer as stated is going in the ground in Spring. :tu: ;)
