i think whatever done it you have gotten a great result, now is there a massive tap root on that now? you might have to reduce that over a period while you are growing a strong root system and getting the tree to flourish. especially if the roots are all coming from that main tap root.

Yes jamie, that huge tap root needs to be reduced. I tend to keep part of it as the trunk as the top has alot of dead wood with little bark left. However, a long section will need to be cut off. I think it will be a decent tree the way it is heading. I'm glad that it alive.

to right there mate the tree definately has potential there!! it has some great movement down low, i think a trunk chop might be in order for it though as the top starts getting a little straight compared to the bottom. it will make a sweet little shohin though pal

When you cut that taproot off dont chuck it plant it. These guys throw out suckers like crazy when the roots are disturbed i dont see why the taproot wouldnt reshoot for you. 2 bits of driftwood for your tank instead of one

Bretts, All I did was submerging the plant in the water with dilluted seasol and ST. I didn't put much vegemite in as I was worried about the salt content. Two days later, it was planted in a mixture of 50% potting mix, 30% of propagating sand and 10% of phagnum moss. It was water well and left neglected under the shade of my mango tree untill now. I didn't water too well. Maybe the the phagnum moss helps retain the water and recent rains also help.

Matt, the taproot does not have very good taper otherwise I would try to obtain more drifted wood lol Anyway, I have a big creep myrtle with pink flower in my back yard so I could have as much cuttings as I want
