JayP I know we should not give critiques, this is more information. The last pot you quoted as being Japanese is actually Korean I have a number of them

I have one identical to yours. they cost me $ 6-50 each from a local nursery.

Cheers Pup

not at all pup I'm glad u did that's why I posted the makers marks, hoping someone might shed some light on who the makers are, so thanks! However in my defense I didn't actually quote it as Japanese ;) although must admit I thought it was lol. So I apologize folks, the last pot I will now keep and use myself! To think I had it wrapped up on newspaper for the last 3-4 years lol! cheers pup

actually bought it on a certain auction site a few years ago from the states, i paid around $40 and about $20 postage. it was labeled 'old rare bonsai pot' or something along those lines i seen the chop and thought the characters looked more japanese than chinese lol! well looks like i should have done my homework! up until the other day i had always maintained to friends etc that i have never made a bad purchase on ebay lol!! ps tried to put the red face emoticon up here but it wouldn't work ha

I am sorry for that JayP :( they are nice pots though, there is a series of them different colours and some different styles. All put out by the same manufacturer.

thanks pup, they are a nice pot and very well made i would say definitely on par with japanese quality, i think that may have been half the reason i had convinced myself it was japanese! do you happen to know the name of the maker? cheers
