Pine or Juniper?
They look very much junipers to me but I'm not 100% sure. If they are, what type of jup are they? There are quite a few of them around the area but I could find any seedling

Re: Pine or Juniper?
Sorry to dissapoint you Jamie it is one of Australia's coniferous plant's albeit not a true Juniper or pine. It is Callitris columellaris ( Murray pine Bribie Island pine ).Jamie wrote:i think they are bribie island pines mate. neither pinus or juniper
It can be grown from seed or cuttings readily.
Cheers

Re: Pine or Juniper?
Thanks Pup for the info. Whatever it is, looks very convincing to be a good specimen for bonsai. Do you have any of this species in your collection?

Re: Pine or Juniper?
Ive tried a few cuttings from the local area Callitris at times, not very many or very seriously, and havent had success (Would love to have some on our property, unfortunately they are absent.) Nearest is about 4 doors up, and he keeps having fires so the poor thing's been scorched badly twice in 4 years, haha. ( Not too sympathetic, the last fire he started himself using machinery in scorching heat)

Re: Pine or Juniper?
It's good to know cuttings do take roots. What is the chance of running into some problem if I take some small cuttings from the trees on council's lands? I wouldn't go through all the prob. asking for a permit for cuttings
