Re potting

I have been doing some re potting to day In them was a couple of trees that are really rampant growers. One is a Banksia preamorsa the othe Kunzea baxteri.
These were done last summer also a Melaleuca linarifolia and M.bracteata.

Beautiful tree's Pup and good photography too.
Your West Australian trigger plant looks so graceful flowing from its pot. If possible a post about this one and any others in our Accent plant (viewforum.php?f=30 ) section would be great!

You can say that again Pup, how long had it been since they were last done? Looks like there wasn't any room in the pot for anything other than roots!

How big is the Banksia?
The trunk looks quite thin, but when you compare to the leaves it must actually be rather large

: Your right Ken it is a thin trunk but in two years it has doubled its size It was bought as a trial.
It is a rampant grower like I said the trees that showed all the roots have only been one year since last potted. I will try to find out more on the trigger plant and do as you ask Steven. I do have to separate it this season.

Pup can you explain a little about how you decide when to repott these natives including what time of year.(even though it seems this is current)

It is intresting that you say these were repotted last year. I have read with banksia that they should be slip potted up for a few years and the roots only reduced every 3-5 years?

Brett I do my re potting to suit the tree. I watch the buds as they break I break into a sweat and my back starts aching as I go into full swing.
As for the Banksia This was done last November and as you can see it had filled the pot so I did a full re pot.
As I have said many times I only pass on what I have done. Not what I have read. I hope this helps in some way. Pup

G,day again Soltan this is an update on the Banksia praemorsa that I posted here when I re potted it here it is today as you can see plenty of new growth. I have also been pinching back new growth. As I said this one is an experiment. It is working well. Pup

G'day Pup,
I found this post while resarching Kunzea baxteri( looking for some ideas for styling), I have just aquired a young plant, and recently picked up a Banksia praemosa . Are these two still going strong, it would be good to see how they have progressed.

I have no experience with natives these two will be my first attempt so I was pleased to find this thread. I'm hoping the conditions we have here will be ok for them to survive long term. That is if I don't kill them first throughl lack of experience.
