Re: BIG PLUM versus STIHL pt 2
Hi Greth , i agree white just doesn't cut it with me either .It is Bitunen based wound sealer, and it turns aged grey very quickly giving a more natural look .Cheers

Re: BIG PLUM versus STIHL pt 2
Hi Jamie , i think it will shoot next season, keeps suckering up all around the base so the roots are fine . It may be a little dry on that side but any shoot down low will be veneered into the carved section if it sprouts in the wrong area .I only want 2-3 low shoots on that side , if it doesn't shoot i will reduce the length of the carving section to be in balance with the new growth then hollow the base right out ,Cheersjamie111 wrote:cheers for the pics alpine! looking good

Re: BIG PLUM versus STIHL pt 2
These is the pics of the big mother as she drops off for a rest
side front .Aggod hard trim over winter back to the first bud and then let it loose .I quite like the single sided look with the canopy extended to about another 1/3 in height and possibly width it will come into its own .CheersYou do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Re: BIG PLUM versus STIHL pt 2
No worries bodhi , its strange that it leafs up purple then goes bronze during trimming and then goes purple before leaf drop .Whereas the street trees stay purple . Have something to learn here i think , fert' , water shade ??? .Cheersbodhidharma wrote:Thanks for the fast reply Alpine.

Re: BIG PLUM versus STIHL pt 2
Hey Alpine,
This one is coming along fantastic. I have a prunus nigra that i collected and after it had reshot carved up as a hollow twin trunk. One side died out completely so was restyled. I lost the 1st branch last yr being too agressive with carving, planted it in the ground hoping the extra strength might pump some new shoots to no avail.
I hope this shoots on the right for you, if not I am sure you can turn the remains into something equally spectacular.
