hey simo

not much celtis around our area although around byron closer to you then lismore i have found them but not substantial quanties. i mainly collect privet you can also find nice sand paper figs along the creeks also the occasional stone fruit, duranta, firethorn, camphor laurel (yes they can make decent bonsai if worked right) and radiata. i have some nice spots if we ever meet up one day we should go for a dig but i will usually wait for spring to start collecting.

btw i still have japanese maple seedling sorry havent been able to get back to you of late i been flat out with uni and life just gets hectic at times and i heard your after pines aswell i have about 150- 200mseedlings atm but they wont be ready for transplanting until next year red, few varienties of black, scotts and on trial white.

im thinking of reducing my collection aswell as i cant take care of all my trees now im at uni so if your after some more advanced trees i have them aswell.

also if you find something really nice on your property better to identify species and note location then dig it in spring. with bigger radiatas i prep the yr before collection otherwise i have poor success rate so its good to learn your species.

cheers mate jarryd

oh btw there is a bonsai club here in lismore aswell i dont know if your a member or not, if not come along. second saturday of every month at 2 - 2.30 i think

Greetings,
I have been collecting along Sand Ridge Road at the top end of Main Arm. There is left turn down the hill a few miles along. This leads to an interesting creek and waterfall to the west, you will have to walk the creek.
Also try the perlite road into the southern lip of Wanganooe Gorge. In the Rummery state forest.
These were favorite bike tracks when in High school.
Join the Summerland Club, they have done digs west of Casino.
Good luck,
Bruce.
