Hey Jilly,
Welcome to the forum, as you can see there are lots of people always willing to help & share there own experiences. Yes bonsai are trees that really should be outside in the elements but having said that i have seen many that have lived there entire lives indoors without any drama (its mainly a matter of sufficient light).
Bougy's like it on the dry side & figs love to be kept moist, having said that my bougs get watered along with everything else, For myself I adjust my soil mix depending on the species. Boug's are in pure diatomite so no matter how much water I give them it is never going to be too much. Mix up your worm castings to look like a weak tea, the ratio you have been using on the rest of your garden should be ok.
As you are learning, bonsai are not as hard to look after as is often thought when we start out in this art. I tell people that apart from the need for daily watering they are as easy as any other pot plant to grow. When the time comes post up some pics and everyone will talk you thru repotting & pruning. Its better to learn for yourself than send them to the palour, you get to know your tree intimately, every wrinkle in the bark, every branch, leaf & bud.
I am sure Bonnie will give you many years of joy.
Matt
