What seeds are you planting

Since it is that time of year to stratify and plan spring planting I thought it might be interesting to hear what seeds we are all planting.

I have some collected pine seeds, Japanese black and red pine. Also what I think is Lodgepole Pine.
Heaps of Carpinus orientalis also some Carpinus turczaninovii are not far away thanks to the generosity of a member
Some collected Callitris and I am sure there is another collected species or two I will have to check later

I collected a heap of elm seeds from the driveway after the last storm to use as mulch in the growing area so there will be sure to be a bunch of them again

I guess we could also include any cuttings that are planned here as well. I want to try some winter hardwood cuttings again but I am not sure where to set up the heat mat at the moment. ? Purple leaf plum, hawthorn with a pink double flower, seiju elm.

ill be planting out around 1000 trident seeds , 200 japanese maple seeds soon. IM also digging up some young spruces which have self sown from my large one . At the end of winter i will be collecting, plum, cherry, quince, liquidamber and firethorn.

I have a stack of Allocasuarina Torulosa cones, all I have to do now is to find out the best way to plant them, anyone know?

Not all from seed, but trident maple, JBP, JWP, JRP, casurina torulosa and littoris (sp), banksia seratta and integrafolia, and some seed that were labelled "Albany bottlebrush" these seem like they will make very good bonsai!

I have a stack of Allocasuarina Torulosa cones, all I have to do now is to find out the best way to plant them, anyone know?

Hi there Mick, smoke treatment will really get your Allocasuarinas going.
1. Sow the seeds at the required depth into trays of seedling mixture.
2. Find yourself a decent sized cardboard box.
3. Collect some dry gum leaves and place them into a terracotta pot and light them up.
4. Let the flames go out (make double sure) and wait until you see lots of smoke coming up.
5. Place the smoking pot next to your seed tray and cover with the box (this is why you need to be sure that there are no more flames)
6. Leave them for a half hour while you make a cuppa and then take off the box and water.

In no time you will have more allocasuarinas than you can poke a root hook at.
Beware of snails and slugs when the seeds germinate as they will mow them down in one night.
