Was out walking the dog and noticed a striking large pine, with lovely white / silver foliage. Grabbed a small bit. Any Idea of what it is?
If so, would you know if they take from cuttings, as I would take some if they did.
I think I know what it is, but I am having a mental lapse at the moment.
Needles are 2cm long.

Hi Mitchell, it is Blue Atlas Cedar - Cedrus atlantica 'Glauca'
Very difficult if not impossible from cuttings, airlayer may be possible, I have a friend who has grafted the foliage onto branches of Cedrus deodara and Cedrus atlantica.
craigw60 has a couple of beautiful examples of this species in his collection.

Atlas cedar are always grafted or seed raised, never heard of them growing from cuttings. If you collect seed from a blue atlas you may if your lucky get a couple of blue ones come up but the majority will be green. Green atlas make great bonsai and are generally a bit more robust than the blue ones.

As has already been said, this is blue atlas cedar. I grew up looking at one from my bedroom window, tried cuttings many times without success. I did try to airlayer a piece but it also failed, but think that was more because of my youth & inexperience than the fact that it cant be done. They are usually grafted & from what I was told by a friend in melbourne are extremely touchy when grown on there own roots. If you really want one I would suggest buying one and growing it on.
