My new baby arrivals (seedlings)
Every year for the past 10 years, during Autumn or Spring I sow seeds of different varieties, just to experiment. My new babies arrived into this world just before winter.

Josh, I am not sure what the term "wetting the head" means. Do you mean slicing the roots ? Repotting them? Anyway let me know what you mean. I really just plan to do nothing but repot them. I dont get much root rot problems because I dont use seed raising mix or anything with peat.

There are a couple of definitions

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

WoW!! Inspiring!
I must sow some pines from scratch.
Did you collect the seed or buy it?

Hey Mitchell, I bought most of them from Aussie ebayers. You can also pick cones that have fallen from any pines and see if theres any seeds inside.Mitchell wrote:WoW!! Inspiring!

Hey Ed just following you here. Saying you plan to do nothing but repot? You should find the highest point of good radial roots and cut everything under that off. At the same time get a (1.5) thin enough wire on the wee trunks with the help of point nose pliers. Bend, twist and pot up! Watch that wire cut in a tad only !

Good point Ant, I'll make sure to do it. A little bit of effort now goes a long way in the future.

Re: My new baby arrivals (seedlings)
Very exciting Ed, I've got a few things sown that I'm eager to see germinate; Some Japanese Cedar (cryptomeria), Mugo pine, Himalayan cypress and a few hundred each of several types of maple.
Can't wait. Pity that.
