This is a very nice juniper and impression of what can be (my deciduous side tells me to leave the bottom jin alive)
But the the H has this got to do with hawthorn :?:

That's a nice one Antonio if you come out with another like that I may not be able to beat it. I have one more spot organised this year of hawthorn with any movement. Harry Harrington has shown some good examples of what can be done with straight ones so I am thinking I can fit one or two of them in.
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Nice Hawthorn , even a bit of movement.

I understood that with collected Hawthorn it was best to leave them to grow for a couple of years before doing anything. Does anyone else have any experience or advice?

I collected on in Summer of 2007-8 ... it has been sitting in its growing box now for 18 months. In that time it has reshot like mad, I needed to do some selection of shoots so that I did not have too many. Since then I have hung wooden pegs on the end of the branches to grow them all down. I figure that next spring there will be some substantial branches on it with which to start styling and aiming for taper and ramification.

hi andrew great to hear what ya doin with hawthorn, love to see some pics. i know nothing about hawthorn these are my first. i think anything collected has to stabalise for a year or 2 b4 any serious work is done, some conifers even longer. maybe dave miyagi man might be able to give us some tips on hawthorn. :D

Lee is against the Jinning of the side branch...He thinks that the tree will be much more interesting with it on once the foliage has developed more. With is many, many years of experience compared to my status as a novice, I will go with his advice and see how the tree ends up in years to come. If I think the side branch doesnt suit the tree, get rid of it then. As you all know, If I take it off now, there'll be no turning back.

Although I now have about a kilometre of wire to put on this tree, I really enjoyed his workshop and am really glad I was able to work together with him and learn so much.

To all of those who have not done a workshop with Lee, I recommend you take the opportunity if one comes up.
