I was thinking about wether to mention this but you convinced me Jamie. Doing a little landscaping today I squished one with my finger and it popped just the wrong way and got in on the face :|
I am sure squishing them helps in no way to eradicate them from my lawn but it makes me feel better until today.

My bloody Oscar won't eat them :? Loves the worms though. Maybe I will try throughing them in the fishpond(carp and big goldfish) the kids would love that if they ate them!
It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

I have a couple of Magpies that hang around, I give the lawn grub to them, the magpies even catch them, i once had a kookaburra hanging around doing the same.

Sounds like fun and as much as I would love a chiminea I don't think that is a good idea with the kids

I just figured out how to do photo's so here it is
Witjuti Grub & dammage (1).jpg

Witjuti Grub & dammage (11).jpg
I'm not sure if the carving will kill the limb, but if i didnt get him out he would have killed the tree anyway.
You can see the breathing holes going down further, i poked around in there too, then i put a jet of water in there.
lets see what happens now

its funny you say that brett.

the first time mum seen them she didnt know what to do with them so she grabbed a small hand shovel and tried to cut one in half...didnt work so she took a massive flying swing at this grub which was about an inch thick and she got it then... but the funniest thing was the same thing happened it squirted up its guts into her face and she ran around the back yard squelling like it was going to do some damage, dad grabbed the hose turned it on with the spray attachment and soaked her from the face first head to toe!

jamie
SHOHIN YAKUZA!!!
