Here's a stump i collected monday gone. Started as a 2 mt high five trunk, is now a 4 and thinking to go 3 ??? Just like to show you guys how i have dealt with this beast to get it potted. Will wait to see where it pops this spring so that trunks can be carved and married to the base next winter!8-)

According to the chinese, 5 is the best and if you can't settle with 5, go with 3 and not 4.
For me, any number is good as long as it sooth the eyes and this look good.
Collected Trident hey? The only place I can go and collect trident here in Brisbane is to go to the ...council parklands with a shovel at night time

Hey dog thanks man! This mix is 50% med diatamite, 25% pine nuggets mini, 10% coco peat, 10% Pumice, 5% aussie native potting mix and finally a couple good hands full of chopped spag. A real dish!

Antt, this sounds like an interesting recipe'. Do you use this mix with other species like casuarina, pine and jup?

Hey DK, 1st time i have used pumice, very expensive so am not pouring it out in this example, more for finishing trees off in pots. Junipers do not like coco peat i have found. This mix will work in most places as long as you water and feed a plenty in the warmer weather !!!

Thanks for the indirect warning Antt. It could get very warm here in QLD during summer time and things could get nasty. I will not use 100% diatomite for on-going growing then. Would addition of reason amount of sphagnum moss solve the problem of too fast drying?

Hi Ant, you have a bit of cutting and re-growing to do there. Nice root base but the trunks will need some work. Good long term project.
