Please excuse my ignorance, but what is a "sumo fig"? I looked it up on google and the only hits I got came back to this page or Bonsai South.

was talking to dumper about this tree last night and how much it has bugged be that it didnt shoot, and ontop of that the heel grafts i attempted to do on it just would not take either. no matter what i tried everything didnt want to work. dont know why but it was bugging me.

so a couple of weeks ago i took a little cutting i struck a few months back and have done a thread graft on it, the struck cutting is still on its own root system, so it should be fine, just a matter of getting them to fuse into each other so that the base feeds the graft.

after all this time the base is still alive, i dont know how, but it is, it just refused to bud out  hopefully this will see it through.

as you can see how i am doing this in the pics, it is pretty self explanitory ;)
