Proper pH for Kurume?

Hi there crazy Kids!!!

Just wanted to get some opinions of what the appropriate pH range would be for Kurume Azaleas. Pls don't worry too much about other people's responses or even what you have read. I want your OWN personal opinion in terms of what works for you. May I also ask what you would recommend for food and more particularly, when.

I have never checked the PH of my soils, but currently have Kurumes in Kanuma which I believe is slightly acidic, Mt Sylvia Diatomite, WHich is Somwhat Alkalinic apparenlty.
I have had the previously in Maidenwell Diatomite which apparenlty also lightly acidic

No difference that I can tell as yet.

Hi Ken, Maidenwell Diatomite is ph 7.0

Jester, the soil ph at my place is 5.1-5.5 and the Azaleas, Rhododendrons and Camellias love it.

All my azalea's are in a mix of , pine fines/10mm scoria/Yates mix. All are growing strongly, so I haven't had much of a need to check PH. I have also noted all my rho and az cuttings, take in my rubbish scrap mix and do fine staying in it.

Azaleas are lime haters so a Ph between 4.5 6.0 is Ideal for all I have found be they Indica or Satsuki or Karume .
