Wa looking at these today Craig.
The trunk on mine a collected is not tall enough to carve like that, so will have to be a smaller Sumo type carving :-)
Nice to see what we can achieve with what is as good a replacement for Pine in Oz :-)

Anyone been to Bali?
The guys over there are doing some really great stuff with "our" Casuarina. Really large stuff, like bases way over the 400/500mm wide and trees up to 1metre high.
Apparently they are being collected over in Jave by professional collectors. They find the trees growing in the Mountains over there and over a few years cut them down a few times before finally digging them and then on selling to the Bonsai Nurseries in Bali.
I looked at importing a few when I lived in Darwin, but unfortunately I couldn't make sence of anyone in mthe local Quarantine mob up there. Cost of bringing them in through Brisbane was just prohibitive so  I never got to bring them in.
I have never seen in JBP's in Japan, but I would be prepared to bet some of those Casuarina's would have been their equals.
