Chinese Elm

Post by blkrota »

Hey guys, I repotted one of my elms today.

I bought this field grown elm from Bonsai at the bay last Feb-april, I think it is about 4-5 years old.
I have to move some branches around and i was also thinking about taking the top off?

Any thoughts , Advice? :)

hi mate,

nice bit of tree you got there :D

I would keep the sacrifice branch on for now that will help thicken the base, but i would remove the top third of the tree down to where the trunk thins out and kicks to the right and use that branch to build the apex ;)

i would use what gets cut off as cuttings, 99% strike rate out of them you should get :D

nice :D

I would be taking the top back and just building the branches and ramification
Maybe tilt to the right at next repot to bring the apex over the base somewhat and this will lower the Right branch too

Nice tree :-)
