Bonsai Pots, Western Sydney ? Canberra?

Post by Jan »

I've been looking for a roundish pot for a literati. I'm after a slightly deeper than usual pot to visually balance the thick base of the plant; a pot that has a feminine feel to it, possibly lotus? shaped; possibly glazed in soft green or grey?

I'll be passing through western Sydney and Canberra in a few weeks time, any reccomendations as to where is worth a try? (Like most, I'm not interested in paying the earth)

If it isn't too far out of your way, try Bonsai Environment in Vineyard:

http://www.bonsainet.com.au/

Their website doesn't do justice to the huge amount of stock they carry. I've seen their storeroom and there are literally thousands of various pots there - at very reasonable prices. The owner's name is Kingston Wang and there is a locality map on the above website.

Thanks, Tman, sounds just like what I'm looking for. You can't beat advice from those who have visited the place; it is impossible to tell from the Yellow Pages and Internet.

No problems Jan. I usually go down to Sydney once a year, and that's where I get all my pots from. This year I came home with 16 pots - the largest was a Japanese rectangular glazed one with rounded corners that measures 800mm long x 580mm wide and 120mm deep for a rather large Crape Myrtle. The others were also all fairly big pots. The total cost was just over $600.00 but $285.00 of that was for the Japanese pot. The Crape Myrtle is now in the pot (did it yesterday) and is soaking in a tub of water and seasol at the moment - want the diatomite to soak up as much water as possible. I'll post a photo of it when I get it out of the tub.
Regards

Taffy.
