Thanks for the link Lisa - they are great trees, complex, dynamic and refined.

Any opinions - are they Bonsai or Penjing? (evil chuckle).

I think we don't put enough complications in our trees, before we put them into bonsai pots. You need a lot of years, a lot of cuts, a lot of fattening, and a lot of changes in direction to get these results. Putting a few bends in with wire and refining the foliage pads just won't do it. Ever. Grow big, cut hard, keep going.

Cats among pigeons, and the like. Roll on Spring.

Wow, I've never seen wrightia religiosa that big and that beautiful as bonsai!
Always we hope someone else has the answer.
