Self Appointed Pruner
This bower bird has been coming to my garden alone every day for ages, now that I have started my bonsai garden he's bringing his mate with him
They both sit at this juniper and the other day I was close enough to see what the attraction was. They are ripping off the dead needles from the juniper and flying away with a beak full. They hop around in between the pots and have a great time. I've notices an awful lot of spider webs amongst my bonsai the last few weeks so I also have alot of birds in and out after the spiders. It's become a real nature play ground for them

Re: Self Appointed Pruner
Thanks guys for your comments. I can almost put him to the clock in the morning, the other day I was bending to look at one of my trees and he's mustn't have seen me, he hopped onto the juniper and that's how I discovered what he was up to, as I was only about 3 ft away from him. I'd love it if they built a nest in there

Re: Self Appointed Pruner
Very cool Loretta. I have a self appointed root pruner, a very character filled cockatoo named Peter, so far he has refrained from pruning branchs but its a constant discussion between us about repotting & the appropriate time for it

I can't believe you have a cockatoo that doesn't get in and chew the branches on your trees. Your discussion must turn into arguements more times than enough. They just love tearing things to shreds normally.MattA wrote:Very cool Loretta. Re: Self Appointed Pruner
Peter is a rather odd cockatoo, as I said tho he does like to do a bit of root pruning & absolutely loves shredding the moss in my trayscapes. My mate who visits regularly also has a one called Oscar & he is a pruner... Those discussions have turned into arguments more often than not. They can be very determined & take alot of convincing to give up on a path once they get their mind set. There is only one or 2 trees that I mind them going near, the rest can be cockie shaped if thats what they choose to do.Loretta wrote:I can't believe you have a cockatoo that doesn't get in and chew the branches on your trees. Hi Matt,
If I ever come back as a cockatoo I'd like to be owned by you
I used to have a short billed corella and she was absolutely beautiful. Lost her to a snake
Her name was Willow.
